Deception Bay State High School
Class of 2010 - Our Grade 12's Graduate!

Our Grade 12's have now graduated, having completed 5 years of commitment to their studies, the school and the greater community.

A parent of one of our graduating students, Blair Tomlinson, sent us a letter thanking the school, it's dedicated staff and community. We will certainly miss all of our 12's and wish them all the best!

Well my son finished school for the last time today and while attending his graduation ceremony, which was very emotional for me, saw how all these kids had grown up so much over the years.

I just want to thank the teachers from the bottom of my heart for turning Blair and many of these other kids into the adults they are today.  You all nurtured and cared for our kids and Blair loved school to the last day.  Jason who finished 2 years ago still tells me how much he misses school.

Luckily my boys have their futures mapped out and I am so very proud of them. Your school and teachers were just the best for my kids and I'm sure they will have many good memories for many years to come.

Blair told me one day that the teachers at high school are so different to that of primary school.  He said they just just like friends.

 Thanking you once again.

NAIDOC celebrations(National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Celebrations)
This month there have been a lot of celebrations for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

On Tuesday 13 July we had a flag raising ceremony to begin our NAIDOC celebrations (National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Celebrations). Thank you to Uncle Alan Gill, Yvette D’Arth, John Sullivan, Dean Wells, local Members of Parliament and students from Certificate III in Child Care for being a part of this ceremony. Staff and students were also a part of this ceremony.

Flag Raising

We closed the week with a celebration dinner tasting foods from the Torres Strait Islands. Thank you to Aunty Annai Ghee and her band of Hospitality students who helped her during the day. It was a great way to end the week. Thank you to the family and staff who came along and tasted the foods. Well done everyone.
