RESOURCE CENTRE STAFF Teacher-Librarian - Ms Denkes Library Technician - Mrs Carthey Teacher Aide - Mrs Goussetis HOURS OF OPENING: MON-FRI (8.00 AM – 4.00 PM) The Resource Centre (RC) is open at first break, Monday to Friday. The RC is automatically closed when the Teacher Librarian is unable to supervise eg. Staff meetings, seminars & briefings and at 2nd break. READING SCHEME FOR STUDENTS All students are involved in wide reading units in English Language Studies. Young Adult Fiction loans available to yr 10-12. The Resource Centre’s Reading Café (RCRC) is available to students nominated by teachers on Tuesday and Wednesday second break. ROOMS/AREAS
1 research areas - RC.01 2 computer rooms - RC.08 & RC003 WHAT IS AVAILABLE Books, newspapers, magazines, CDs, videos, audio cassettes , maps, vertical file , CD Roms, and other materials for pleasure and information. Topic resource lists and bibliographies. Help in finding appropriate resources. Help in building skills to make use of information sources. Help in preparing information in assignments and projects. EQUIPMENT Colour Laser Printer Photocopier PHOTOCOPYING Photocopying can be done before school, at breaks or in class time when the Resource Centre is open. If you are in doubt please ask for help. There is no change given by the machine or by RC staff. LOANS – Student 3 Non-fiction & 3 Fiction items - 30 days Students may borrow using fingerprint/ID card. ID cards (issued free at the beginning of the year) with your photo, are needed to borrow books, games, magazines and restricted items. Replacement cards can be purchased. Students who register a fingerprint can borrow when ID cards are forgotten. FINES ARE CHARGED, but overdue notices are sent regularly. Students are unable to borrow when they have overdue resources. Students are NOT allowed to borrow items for other students on their card. Payment will be required if items are lost or damaged NOT FOR LOAN (Use within RC)
Teacher Reference (TR) items and Resources FROZEN or restricted by your teachers for assignments cannot be borrowed until the assignment is finalised. Resources we borrow from other libraries (school or city council libraries) may be photocopied or used in the RC. They are NOT FOR LOAN. RESERVATIONS AND RENEWALS (extensions) Items may be renewed if presented at the circulation BEFORE they become due. Loans are for 30 days. The extension may vary from one day to two weeks. You may reserve items that are on loan to another RC user, PLEASE ASK. It will be held for 7 days. TEXTBOOK HIRE LOCATED IN C08 (Comm. Block) Textbook Convenor - Mrs Ritson Please keep your Equipment and Resource Scheme receipt. Students will be issued with textbooks on presentation of Equipment and Resource Scheme receipt. PLEASE NOTE: We welcome requests/suggestions from you about resources you would like to see in your Resource Centre. (Write your SUGGESTIONS in the folder provided at the desk.) HELP is always welcome to process, organise, tidy and repair resources. We have RC Monitors (students) from all year levels to help RC users. Immediate notification of lost or stolen ID cards is necessary. Please see Resource Centre staff.
