I am aware that many of you are eagerly awaiting the initial results of environmental testing undertaken at the school as a result of the health issue highlighted before the holidays in the media.

The State Government has released the initial findings of Parsons Brinckerhoff, an independent company employed by the State Government to undertake the testing.

Update on Environmental Testing – Preliminary results

The preliminary findings of the environmental testing undertaken by environmental consultants over the September school holidays indicate the following:

Soil Testing - Testing did not identify contamination in any of the soil samples exceeding accepted environmental levels. No further investigations are considered to be necessary.

Radiological Testing – Radiological testing was conducted on the grounds and within buildings on the site. Radiological measurements were consistent with normal levels. No further investigations are considered to be necessary.

Water Testing – While initial water samples tested indicate no problems with drinking water quality, water quality testing is ongoing and yet to be finalised.

Air Testing – While initial air quality screening, conducted both indoors and outdoors revealed no obvious problems, air monitoring is ongoing and yet to be finalised.

The final results will be provided once the report is complete. I am sure that all of our community are reassured by these initial results.
